Chef’s Office Academy
WHY START HERE?

Your next role
will ask for more
than execution.

You may already carry the pressure of a busy kitchen. M1 gives you a focused way to develop the reasoning behind its commercial decisions.

Use the numbers as evidence. Ask what is missing. Consider the effect on the team and the standard. Then put forward a recommendation you can stand behind.

You can work with the supplied case venue; you do not need access to confidential employer figures.

THE KIND OF THINKING YOU PRACTISE

The answer starts
with better questions.

THE ROSTER CONVERSATION

“We need labour down.
What would you change?”

Sales are holding. Friday service is already stretched. Cutting the roster might meet one target and create a different problem.

01 Establish what’s happening +

Look at when demand lands, where the team is stretched and what sits behind the labour result. Separate a short-term change from a structural problem.

02 Make the trade-offs visible +

Consider preparation, skill mix, service standards and the pressure on the team. A lower number is not automatically a better operating decision. Compare rostered and actual hours, overtime and the venue’s fully loaded rates.

03 Put forward a recommendation +

Suggest a change you can explain. Agree what you will measure, what needs protecting and when you will review the result. Stay clear about what is within your authority.

Illustrative decision walkthrough, based on M1’s labour and forecasting topics. There is no single answer without the venue’s context.

SIX CONNECTED STAGES

Build a clearer
way to think.

Move from understanding the kitchen’s commercial picture to making a reasoned case for action.

Work through the sequence at your own pace. The learning focuses on your reasoning and application.

01See how your decisions connect+

Understand the business behind the kitchen, and where your own work influences the result.

02Ask better questions+

Look beyond the first number. Understand margin, markup and the assumptions behind a recommendation.

03Find the story in food cost+

Use stock movement, usage, recipe costs and yield to work out what needs attention.

04Make a considered labour recommendation+

Think through demand, productivity, costs and the standards your team needs to protect.

05Contribute to a stronger menu conversation+

Understand contribution and demand so you can explain more than a food-cost percentage.

06Bring a clear case for action+

Diagnose what matters, set priorities and explain a practical next step.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

A few useful answers.

Do I need finance experience?+

M1 starts with the foundations and connects the ideas to kitchen decisions. You need the willingness to practise, question a result and explain your thinking.

Do I need my employer’s numbers?+

No. A supplied Kitchen Lab gives you a case to work with. Use workplace information only if you have permission.

What does self-evaluation mean?+

You work through practice questions, review the reasoning and reflect on your recommendation. It is not a promise of individual marking or private coaching.

Does M1 promise a pay rise or a senior role?+

No. M1 develops knowledge and reasoning that can support your work and career conversations. Outcomes depend on your experience, application, employer and circumstances.

When can I access the learning?+

You get full access to the module you purchase from day one. The Academy bundle includes all five purchased modules. Quizzes guide your learning; they do not lock paid content.

How long do I keep access?+

Lifetime access includes updates to the content you purchased. It does not include future standalone modules outside your purchase.

What help and certificate are included?+

Email academy@chefsoffice.com.au for technical or access help. There are no compulsory one-to-one calls or manually marked submissions. A completion certificate recognises completion of the learning; it is not an accredited qualification.

Where are my workbook answers saved?+

Systeme manages your login, purchased-course access and official course completion. Workbook answers are saved on your device, in the browser profile you use. They do not automatically sync between browsers or devices. To move them, export a backup file and restore it in the other browser.

Back up your answers before changing devices or clearing browser data. On a shared device, someone with access to the same browser profile could read them. Logging out does not delete saved workbook answers.

Is there a refund guarantee?+

You can request a full refund within seven days of purchase for a new module or the Academy bundle by emailing academy@chefsoffice.com.au. This policy does not limit any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
